160 litters of NMRI mice were selected for high or low body weight at 6 wk or for large or small size of the first 3 litters, and a 5th line was used as a control. For mice of the 13th generation of the 5 lines, body weight at 21 days averaged 14.21, 12.64, 17.48, 10.60 and 13.54 g resp., body weight at 42 days 32.57, 29.44, 39.44, 23.54 and 32.38 g and body weight at mating 34.65, 31.96, 45.16, 25.33 and 33.46 g.
