Diagnosis of Aujeszky's disease: a comparison of immunohistological and virological methods

Diagnosis of Aujeszky's disease: a comparison of immunohistological and virological methods

Tierarztliche Umschau 46(9): 502-513

Complete or partial carcasses of 111 animals were examined immunohistologically by the peroxidase/antiperoxidase (PAP) technique; 97 of these samples were also cultured for Aujeszky's disease virus. The PAP amplified immunohistology was marginally less sensitive than virus isolation in pigs, but had a greater sensitivity in ruminants.
