Difference in single leaf photosynthesis between old and new rice cultivars. II. A physiological basis for the difference in stomatal conductance between cultivars

Difference in single leaf photosynthesis between old and new rice cultivars. II. A physiological basis for the difference in stomatal conductance between cultivars

Japanese Journal of Crop Science 59(2): 293-297

In field trials in 1981-83 with rice cultivars registered in different years, the physiological basis for higher stomatal conductance (gs) in new cultivars at the ripening stage was examined. At the heading stage, no varietal difference was observed in the rate of bleeding from the section of stem after sunset; at the milk ripe stage, a marked varietal difference was found in the rate. The newer a cultivar was, the higher was the rate.
