Difference of stomatal conductance between two sides of wheat and maize leaves and its relation with environmental factors

Difference of stomatal conductance between two sides of wheat and maize leaves and its relation with environmental factors

Journal of Ecology Beijing 9(5): 19-21, 25

In field trials in 1984-85, stomatal conductance (SC) was measured in the leaves of maize Jinzao No. 7 and wheat Fengkang No. 2. There were significant differences in SC between the two sides of leaves in both species. SC was greater on the adaxial side of wheat leaves and the abaxial side of maize leaves; the abaxial stomata of wheat leaves and the adaxial stomata of maize leaves and were more sensitive to environmental variations.
