Differences between Leishmania (Leishmania) chagasi, L. (L.) infantum and L. (L.) donovani as shown by DNA fingerprinting

Differences between Leishmania (Leishmania) chagasi, L. (L.) infantum and L. (L.) donovani as shown by DNA fingerprinting

Memorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz 86(4): 479-481

During studies on the sequence organization of the Leishmania genome, several highly repeated DNA sequences were identified and characterized. Whether such a highly repetitive DNA sequence could be used for the DNA fingerprinting of Leishmania strains and species and in particular whether such a technique could indicate significant differences between L. infantum chagasi and L. infantum infantum was investigated.
