Differences in the kinetic behaviour of sodium benzylpenicillin in mastitic and normal mammary glands of dairy cows

Differences in the kinetic behaviour of sodium benzylpenicillin in mastitic and normal mammary glands of dairy cows

Medicina Veterinaria 8(4): 211-212,214-215

Four cows were inoculated with Escherichia coli endotoxin (O127:B8 lipopolysaccharide) in the 2 left quarters and, 2 hours later, 10 ml of 0.2 M of Na2CO3/ NaHCO3 (ratio 9/1) in the 2 fore quarters and, i.m., 5 million IU sodium benzylpenicillin. Mean antibiotic concentrations in serum and in milk of all 4 glands over the following 10 hours are tabulated.
