Different flowering responses in Anthurium scherzerianum Schott

Different flowering responses in Anthurium scherzerianum Schott

Gartenbauwissenschaft 56(4): 163-169

Ten genotypes, obtained by in vitro cloning of single seeds from 2 crosses and 2 selfings, were compared over a 16-month period (Oct.-Jan.) at 18 or 22 degrees C for flowering behaviour. In Dec., the clones were transferred to lower temperatures (10/10, 14/14 or 20/14 degrees ) for 6 weeks. The plants were 19 months old at the start. The juvenile phase ended in all cases with the development of the 6th leaf. At this point, a flower bud was initiated in each axil.
