Different responses of photosynthetic rate of wheat cultivars from southern and northern China to environmental conditions

In field trials in Nanjing with 5 local cultivars from southern and northern regions of China, the response of photosynthetic rate to differences in light intensity, temp. and water supply was studied. The northern cultivars had higher light saturation points of photosynthesis and a wide optimum temp. range than the southern cultivars. Under drought conditions, photosynthetic rate in all cultivars decreased.
