Differential C-banding of Elymus sibiricus L

Giemsa staining established that the karyotype of E. sibiricus (2n = 4x = 28) contains 6 pairs of large metacentric chromosomes, 4 pairs of smaller metacentrics and 4 pairs of submetacentrics and enabled 12 pairs to be individually identified by the distribution of heterochromatic blocks, while chromosomes 13 and 14 formed a characteristic group within which individual chromosomes were practically indistinguishable.
