Differential effect of regulators on the peroxidase activity and total soluble protein contents of roots and nodules in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.)

Differential effect of regulators on the peroxidase activity and total soluble protein contents of roots and nodules in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.)

Haryana Agricultural University Journal of Research 19(3): 187-192

Cowpeas HFC-42-1 were grown in a greenhouse without added N. Various concentrations of kinetin, cycocel and colchicine were applied, and plant growth and peroxidase activity in roots and nodules assessed. Peroxidase activity was higher in roots than nodules and increased with plant growth. The treatments increased peroxidase activity at later growth stages (70-85 d after sowing). Effects on total soluble protein content varied with rate and plant growth stage.
