Differential mRNA transcription during the induction of freezing tolerance in spring and winter wheat

Plant and Cell Physiology 31(5): 609-619

Gene expression at the mRNA level was studied during cold hardening and dehardening of the freezing-tolerant cultivars Fredrick and Norstar and the freezing-sensitive cultivar Glenlea. Polyadenylated RNA isolated from crown and leaf tissues was translated in a wheat germ cell-free system and the acidic and basic in vitro products were resolved by isoelectric focusing and non-equilibrium pH gradient electrophoresis followed by SDS-PAGE.
