Differentiation of physiological races of Drechslera teres (Sacc.) Shoem., causal agent of net blotch of barley

Two cultural types were differentiated in studies performed on 87 monospore isolates of D.(Pyrenophora) teres collected on barley throughout Germany: a dark conidial type and a white perithecial type. A broad spectrum of different colony types lay between these 2 extremes. Sporulation, growth and cultural characteristics were strongly influenced by medium composition. Sporulation was not abundant on 20% V9 agar.
