Difficult changes ahead for agriculture in Eastern Europe

Difficult changes ahead for agriculture in Eastern Europe

Rivista di Politica Agraria, Rassegna della Agricoltura Italiana 9(3): 11-17

Marked structural, size and productivity differences exist between agriculture in the USSR and in the countries of Eastern Europe. Consequently, different lines of action must be used to reform agriculture within these countries and to guide their contacts with the EC. Basic data on labour and population, land use, trade flows and the stock of agricultural machinery are compared for Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia, the USSR and the group: EC plus EFTA.
