Difficult dermatological diagnosis

Difficult dermatological diagnosis

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 198(5): 795-796

A 10 year old spayed Shih Tzu was examined because of a 4 month history of progressive, nonpruritic alopecia which had begun over the caudal half of the body and progressed craniad. The dog had been treated with corticosteroid ophthalmic preparation for glaucoma prophylaxis. A diagnosis of hypoadrenocorticism was made, as laboratory tests gave negative results for other differential diagnosis, and the dog was fed a conventional canine diet.
