, : Distribution of longidorid nematodes in sugar cane fields in South Africa. Phytophylactica, 232: 167-172

A total of 21 species of Xiphinema, 4 species of Longidorus, 8 species of Longidoroides and 4 species of Paralongidorus were recorded in a survey of 124 fields of sugarcane in 11 extension areas in Natal and south-eastern Transvaal. X. elongatum was the most common, occurring in 60% of the fields, followed by X. mampara (46%), L. pisi (35%) and L. laevicapitatus (25%). The remaining species were recovered from less than 10% of the fields.
