Ecological applications of elemental labeling: analysis of dispersal, density, mortality, and feeding

This paper was included in a special issue on the use of elemental markers in the study of arthropod movement and trophic interactions (edited by Akey, D. H.; Hayes, J. L.; Fleischer, S. J.). The use of trace element labels in mark-recapture studies of dispersal, mortality and feeding in insect populations is reviewed. A maximum of 7 to 63 distinct marks were possible depending on the detection method used.
