Ecological engineering or its synonym ecotechnology is defined as the design of human society with its natural environment for the benefit of both. It has developed in the US and western world since the early 1960s when it was first proposed by H.T. Odum. The concept also appeared in Chinese ecological literature over the past few decades colleagues.
