Effect of Nizoral and tinidazole on the phagocytic activity of patients with trichophytosis and candidosis

Studies in vitro showed that, with a dose increasing up to 5 x 10-3, both Nizoral and tinidazole continued to increase the phagocytic activity of neutrophils against both Trichophyton rubrum and Candida albicans. The phagocytic activity was assessed by the release of 51Cr which had been incorporated into the neutrophils. Further increase of the dose of the antifungal agents diminished phagocytosis, presumably due to a toxic effect.
