Effect of fasting and post-fast diets on performance in molted flocks

Applied Poultry Research 1(2): 200-206

In 4 trials, laying hens of 6 White Leghorn strains were subjected to forced moulting for a period of 28, 36, 40 or 36 wk from 68, 64, 64 (1st moult) or 104 wk (2nd moult) of age. The treatment involved fasting for 10 or 14 days, followed by a diet of cracked milo or mash for 18 and 14 days resp.
