Effect of conditioning and pelleting, expanding and pelleting, expanding and granulating, or expanding the maize component (40%) before conditioning and pelleting of the feed, on energy and nutrient utilization and growth of caged broilers was studied in metabolism (at 20 to 25 days old) and growth trials (7 to 35 days). Diets contained 21.2% crude protein, 9.4 crude fat, 36.2% starch, 13.8% neutral detergent fibre, 7.2% acid detergent fibre, 5.3% cellulose and 1.9% lignin on a DM basis.
