Effect of feeding milk fermented with mixed culture of human strains of lactobacilli on faecal lactobacilli and coliform counts in human test subjects

Sterile skim milk was cultured at 37 degrees C with a mixed culture of human strains of lactobacilli (1:1:1 Lactobacillus acidophilus LBKV3 and LBKI4 and L. casei 4A) until curd was set, then stored at 6 degrees C. The product, which contained approx. 5 x 107 c.f.u. lactobacilli/ml, was given at 100 g/day for 1 wk to 4 healthy individuals.
