Effect of fertilization and irrigation on biological activity of soil rhizosphere of maize and its productivity

The effect of mineral and organic-and-mineral fertilization on the microbiological activity in the rhizosphere of maize and its productivity under irrigation and non-irrigation conditions, has been investigated on leached cinnamonic forest soil at a trial field at Krepost, Haskovo district. It is found that organic-and-mineral fertilization increases the amount and activity of the microflora useful for soil fertility, and participating in nutrients transformation in rhizosphere zone of maize. Under irrigation conditions the effect of organic-and-mineral fertilization on the intensity of the biological processes in the soil is more strongly expressed. The favourable changes in the microbiological activity due to the agrotechnical measures applied (fertilization and irrigation) are in a positive correlation with yield grain. Mineral maize fertilization under non-irrigation conditions, and organic-and-mineral one under irrigation conditions, should be corrected depending on the structure of crops in crop rotation with a view to increase their productivity and to maintain balanced nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium regime in soil.
