Effect of fertilizer and sowing date on establishment and early growth of direct-seeded Acacia albida in Zimbabwe

Nitrogen Fixing Tree Research Reports 6: 40-42

Experiments are reported from a field site at Harare, Zimbabwe, with medium sandy clay soil of pH 4.7. Acid scarified seeds of Acacia albida (an indigenous species) were sown on 2 planting dates (in December 1986 and January 1987) at 1 cm depth and 50 cm apart (with 3 seeds per sowing position) in rows 2 m apart. The seeds were covered with a thin layer of sand.
