Effect of fertilizer application timing on dry matter yield and partitioning, grain yield, and percentage protein in three wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars

In field trials near La Plata, wheat San Agustin INTA, Buck Pucara and Buck Cencerro were sown on 23 June and given (a) no fertilizer, (b) 120 kg diammonium phosphate at sowing, (c) 120 kg diammonium phosphate at sowing + 50 kg urea at stem elongation or (d) 50 kg urea at heading. Grain yield/spike and the number of grains/msuperscript 2 were not affected by fertilizer treatment.
