Effect of functional materials used for polythene bags in keeping the freshness of agricultural products. Broccoli storage tests

The effects of low density polyethylene (LDPE) films mixed with ethylene absorbent or far infrared radiating ceramics and of the moisture absorbent in an LDPE bag on freshness-keeping of broccoli are discussed. The storage time of broccoli in LDPE bags was more than twice as long as for non-packaged broccoli. Yellowing and wilting of broccoli were observed without packaging, and off-flavour was observed in LDPE packaging.
