Effect of fungicide application on the complexity of the pathogen community on winter wheat

Observations were made during 1987-89 on the effect of various fungicidal treatments on the spectrum of pests and fungal pathogens on ears and different leaves of winter wheat. In each year, no plant was found with <3 organisms, irrespective of treatment. On average, the community comprised 5-8 organisms. The highest number was found on the flag leaf and the second leaf (usually 3-4 organisms); >2 organisms were rarely found on the other leaves.
