The effect of Meloidogyne javanica on the sugar content and technological quality of sugarbeet was studied in Doukkala, Morocco. Infestation reduced the sugar content from 17.5% in healthy samples to 5.34% in infested samples and reduced purity from 88.75% to 85.75%. There were significant differences in sodium, potassium and alpha-amine contents between galled and healthy plants.
