Effect of gamma radiation on plant attributes in two cultivars of Cajanus cajan and two species of Moghania

Dry seeds of the C. cajan varieties Ranchi and Assam and of M. chappar and M. macrophylla were treated with 5-40 kR doses of gamma rays. Height, number of primary branches, total shoot length, and number of flowers, pods and seeds per plant were studied in the M1 and M2. Ranchi and M. chappar proved more sensitive to radiation than M. macrophylla and Assam, and showed a higher frequency of meiotic aberrations as well as more marked changes in the traits studied.
