The mortality of eggs of the noctuid Agrotis ipsilon exposed in the laboratory to gamma radiation was directly related to the increase in dose or the decrease in age of the eggs. When 3rd-instar larvae were exposed at 2- 30 Krad, all those treated at 15 Krad died during the larval stage, whereas at 8 Krad about 30% of the larvae pupated and 40% of the pupae gave rise to malformed adults.
