Pot-grown plants of Gossypium barbadense 9647I selfed for 5 years were treated with 400 and 700 R doses at the first flower stage. Plants treated with 400 R set 46.6 bolls/plant and those treated with 700 R set 46 bolls/plant compared with 47.2 in the control. Respectively 14.2, 10 and 18.1 survived to the end of growth. The actual seed production fell with increasing dose from 38.3 to 21.7%.
