Effect of genotype on formation of morphogenetic callus and regeneration of maize plants in in vitro culture

Immature embryos of 11 lines/forms and 13 hybrids were cultured on modified MS medium. The highest capacity for developing embryogenic callus (>50%) was shown by the lines/forms Schindelmeiser MS, Schindelmeiser ZM, A554, VIR20472, VIR20453, VIR20482 and VIR20449 and the hybrids Sary-Arka 150, KOS1016 and R927. The highest capacity for regeneration from callus was shown by Schindelmeiser MS, Schindelmeiser ZM, VIR20482, VIR20475, VIR20449 and the hybrid Dneprovskii 247MV.
