Effect of granular nematicides on the control of root-knot and lesion nematodes in pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium Vis.)

A nematicide screening experiment was conducted using two rates of aldicarb, fenamiphos and carbofuran on pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium (Tanacetum cinerariifolium)) clone 4331 which was infested with Meloidogyne hapla, Pratylenchus penetrans and other plant-parasitic nematodes. At both rates of aldicarb and fenamiphos, the nematode populations were significantly reduced. Carbofuran was found to be effective against nematodes only when applied at the rate of 3 kg/ha a.i.
