Effect of grazing strategy on the stability and primary production of a permanent pasture

Effect of grazing strategy on the stability and primary production of a permanent pasture

Ciencia e Investigacion Agraria 17(3): 85-95

A small plot grazing trial was established in 1983 in the Metropolitan Region to determine the effect of frequency and intensity of grazing by wethers on primary production, plant architecture and sward structure of a Lolium perenne, Dactylis glomerata and Trifolium repens pasture; 4 combinations of frequency/intensity of grazing were compared. Frequency was measured by plant height before grazing and intensity by residue height at the end of grazing.
