Effect of growth rate of Polish Red-and-White Lowland heifers on subsequent body weight, milk yield and fertility

Effect of growth rate of Polish Red-and-White Lowland heifers on subsequent body weight, milk yield and fertility

Archiv fur Tierzucht 33(3): 255-260

Data on 208 heifers were analysed. For heifers with av. daily gains of <651, 651-750 and >750 g to 18 months of age, 1st-lactation milk yield averaged 5957, 5966 and 6013 kg resp., milk fat yield 233.4, 237.3 and 243.5 kg, service period 106.6, 104.2 and 115.2 days, calving interval 382.2, 377.9 and 394.1 days, and the number of inseminations required for their 2nd conception 2.28, 2.14 and 2.54. The differences between the 3 groups were not significant for milk or milk fat yields.
