Effect of growth regulator and pre-girdling treatments on rooting of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum Presl.) airlayers

Effect of growth regulator and pre-girdling treatments on rooting of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum Presl.) airlayers

South Indian Horticulture 37(6): 329-332

Terminal shoots of C. verum some 1.5-2.0 cm thick, were used for air layering. Some shoots were girdled 45 days before layering and others were left intact. All shoots were treated with gallic acid at 100 p.p.m., IBA at 2500 p.p.m. or NAA at 2500 p.p.m., applied alone or in all possible combinations. Girdling had no marked effect on rooting, which was best (86.66%) in non-girdled shoots treated with NAA alone. Rooting in the control averaged 25.83%.
