In field trials on a sandy loam soil, groundnuts were given 0, 250, 600 or 900 kg gypsum/ha and nutrient uptake and growth were studied. Gypsum application increased S uptake at early flowering, 100 d after sowing and at harvesting, but had no effect on the uptake of N, P, K, Ca or Mg. Gypsum application increased the DW of aboveground parts and roots and increased seed yield and CP and lipid contents. Yields were maximum (1.95 t/ha) with 250 kg gypsum/ha.
