Effect of nitrogen and lime on growth and yield of carrot (Daucus carota L.)

A field experiment was carried out at Bhubaneswar, India, during 1988-89. N was applied at 4 levels (0, 25, 50 or 75 kg/ha) and lime at 3 levels (0, 1 or 2 t/ha). The full rate of lime and half of the N were applied before sowing together with P + K at 60 kg/ha. The remainder of the N was applied one month after seed germination. Seeds of carrot Nantes were sown in Nov. 1989 at a spacing of 30 x 5 cm and at a depth of 20 cm. Effects of N and lime on growth and yield of carrot are tabulated.
