Effect of nitrogen in the crop rotation winter catch crop - maize - spring barley. I. Winter catch crop (winter rye)

Effect of nitrogen in the crop rotation winter catch crop - maize - spring barley. I. Winter catch crop (winter rye)

Roczniki Nauk Rolniczych Seria A, Produkcja Roslinna 107(4): 105-114

In field trials at Lipki in 1979-82 on good rye complex soil, DM yield of a winter rye catch crop increased from 3.9 t/ha with no applied N to 6.8 t with 135 kg N/ha and did not increase further with 180 kg N. Total protein yield was highest (1.08 t) at 180 kg N and oat FU yield was highest (6596) at 135 kg N. There was a close correlation between DM yield and N uptake.
