Abstract
Merino rams about 4 months old weighing 26 kg, in 3 groups of 19, were fed to about 42 kg on pelleted complete feeds containing 20, 40 or 60% oats. Daily gain was 287, 286 and 279 g with 4.97, 4.84 and 4.88 oat feed units and digestible crude protein was 371, 456 and 490 g/kg gain, respectively. Nitrogen retention was 6.4, 8.6 and 6.2 g daily or 23.8, 30.8 and 21.4% of intake.
