A control group of fine wool ewes was given daily metabolizable energy (ME) 15.2 MJ during the months 2 and 3 of pregnancy, and 18.0 MJ during the second half of pregnancy. Ewes in the experimental group received 13.0 MJ ME during months 2 and 3, 18.9 MJ ME during month 4 and 21.8 MJ ME during month 5. Liveweight increased before lambing by 17 and 18% of initial values, respectively. Birthweight of lambs was 4.6 and 4.5 kg; lambing percentage was 144 and 141. Wool yield was 9.8 and 10.1 kg.
