Seeds of 2 provenances (Nicaragua and Guatemala) were sown in a medium based on sterilized Luisiana soil and grown for 6 months (August 1987 to February 1988) in a shed covered with plastic at College, Philippines. Some of the seedlings were inoculated with Pisolithus tinctorius or Scleroderma sp. applied as a mycorrhizal tablet 2 cm below the seeds. Seed source significantly affected height, weight and diameter growth (but not root:shoot ratio) with the Nicaraguan provenance performing best.
