Egg weight and egg characteristics of purebred and crossbred chickens

Egg weight and egg characteristics of purebred and crossbred chickens

Proceedings The Third Egyptian British Conference on Animals, Fish and Poultry Production, 7-10 Oct 1989, Alexandria, Egypt Vol 2: 983-992

Progeny of 4 x 4 diallel matings of Dandarawi, Silver Montazah (SM), New Hampshire and White Plymouth were studied. Shell weight was lowest in the Dandarawi and SM and highest in the other 2 breeds, with the crossbreds being intermediate. Shell percentage was highest in Dandarawi X SM and lowest in the New Hampshires, and shell thickness was highest in the SM.
