Embryo developmental profiles of cp*-1379A, dscptd*-1425A, and dek17: three embryo-lethal mutants

Maize Genetics Cooperation News Letter ( 64): 63-64

The 3 maize defective kernel (dek) mutations are described. Mutant cp*-1379A on chromosome 3L showed retarded embryo development by 12 days after pollination (dap) and did not proceed beyond the mid-transition stage (18 dap), resulting in no germination due to lack of shoot meristems and leaf primordia. Mutant dscptd*-1425A on chromosome 6L also lagged behind normal embryos in rate of development and was unable to germinate.
