Abstract
A sample of 100 leaves was collected from seedlings less than 2 years old and from mature bearing plants. The area of each leaf was obtained by tracing it on graph paper and counting the number of squares. The maximum length (L) and breadth (B) of the leaf was measured and correlated with the actual leaf area (Y); a, b, b1 and b2 were constants to be estimated from the observations. Three different models were tried of which Y = b x L x B gave good results and, being simple to use, is recommended.
