Evaluation of Holstein Friesian bulls on the basis of part and complete first lactation milk yield records of crossbred cows

Data on 127 crossbred progeny of 16 Holstein sires were analysed. The rank correlations of sire progeny means for 305-day milk yield with those for milk yield in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th months of lactation were 0.297, 0.721, 0.932 and 0.632 resp., and with those of cumulative yields in the first 2, 3 and 4 months of lactation were 0.447, 0.718 and 0.706.
