Evaluation of the benefit of substituting foliar urea for soil-applied nitrogen for winter wheat

Evaluation of the benefit of substituting foliar urea for soil-applied nitrogen for winter wheat

Aspects of Applied Biology (25): 301-308

In field trials at Barkway, Hertfordshire in 1985-86 the effects of 82 kg unlabelled N/ha applied in Mar. and Apr. followed by either 156 kg N/ha as 15N-labelled urea/ammonium nitrate mixture applied to the soil or as 4 successive foliar applications of 40 kg N/ha as urea applied at GS 32, 37, 39 and 51 on yield and N uptake of winter wheat Brimstone were determined. Plots given soil-applied N yielded 8.21 and 6.81 t/ha of grain and straw, resp.
