The 1574 cultivars tested for resistance to Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae in the Guangxi, Hunan and Beijing areas of China fell into 15 resistance types. There were 41 forms with resistance, notably Mazuigu, Huangke Lengshuixiang, Bailiandaogu and Hainannuo. The last-named was resistant to 25 biotypes of 4 strains of the pathogen. There were significant differences in resistance between japonica and indica types, with the latter being generally more resistant.
