Field experiments with different attractants in baited pitfall traps for Hylobius abietis L. (Col., Curculionidae)

Field experiments with different attractants in baited pitfall traps for Hylobius abietis L. (Col., Curculionidae)

Journal of Applied Entomology, 1135: 451-455

Baited pitfall traps for Hylobius abietis were situated in fresh clearings in different forest zones composed mainly of spruce and pine in South Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. A comparison of several baits showed that the combination of alpha-pinene, ethanol and fresh bark produced the greatest catch. Trap effectiveness was also affected by the forest vegetation zone.
