Steers about 200 kg were fed twice daily on diets containing concentrate:roughage (C:R) 80:20, 55:45 and 30:70 (metabolizable energy content of diet 11.2, 9.8 and 8.5 MJ/kg DM) ad libitum and at 90% and 80% of ad libitum intake in a 3 x 3 factorial arrangement and slaughtered at 380 kg.
