Influence of glucosinolate and iodine supply on thyroid hormone, vitamin A and trace element status of pigs fed on rapeseed oilmeal

Rapeseed oilmeal from a conventional (RSMC) and new low glucosinolate cultivar (RSMN) were moistened with copper sulphate solution and dried at 60 degrees C or left untreated. For 119 days, 45 pigs were given with 14% soyabean meal, or 16% RSMC and RSMN without or with Cu; diets contained glucosinolates plus aglucones 0, 19, 2.4, 6 and 0.6 mmol/kg, respectively. In each group, 3 pigs were supplemented with iodine 0.0625, 0.125 and 0.25 mg/kg. I supplements only affected thyroid mass.
